Ondo Assembly set to screen 12 Commissioner nominees

....Nominees to Appear Between 19 and 23 June


The Ondo State House of Assembly has scheduled the screening exercise for the twelve commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to begin on Thursday, 19 June, and continue until Monday, 23 June 2025.


At the plenary sitting held on Tuesday, 17 June, presided over by the Speaker, Chief Olamide Oladiji, the Clerk of the House, Jaiyeola Benjamin, read the governor’s letter requesting the confirmation of the nominees, in accordance with Section 192 (1 & 2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The letter, addressed to the Speaker of the House,  was titled "Request for Confirmation of Commissioner Nominees", and contained the names of the following twelve individuals:

Professor Igbekele Ajibefun

Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye

Hon. Ayodele Akande

Engr. Alabi Johnson

Alhaji Amidu Takuro

Otunba Adewale Akinlosotu

Mr Idowu Ajanaku

Dr Oluwaseun Abosede Osamaye

Dr Tob Loko

Mr Olaolu Akindolire

Hon. Sunday Olajide

Mr Omoyofunmi Segun Henry


During the plenary, the Majority Leader, Chief Olatunji Oshati moved a motion for the approval of the nomination letter and for it to be committed to the Committee of the Whole House for thorough scrutiny. The motion was seconded by Dr Christopher Ogunlana, representing Irele Constituency.

The Assembly further directed that all nominees should appear with valid certificates and updated copies of  curriculum vitae of at least 40 copies each for proper documentation and vetting.

The Speaker noted that, "In line with Section 192(1 & 2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended), it will interest you to note that the process of screening the commissioner nominees forwarded by Mr Governor, Dr Lucky  Aiyedatiwa, shall be undertaken by the Committee of the Whole House under my humble leadership.

"I assure the people of Ondo State that, as their representatives, we shall conduct a thorough screening and report back as soon as possible."
