Ondo Assembly commends state Govt’s agric empowerment initiative

The agric empowerment initiative launched by the Ondo State Government a few months ago,with a focus on broiler production training, among other programmes has received commendation from the Ondo State House of Assembly.
During an oversight visit to the Ondo State Agribusiness Empowerment Centre (OSAEC), Isuada, Owo, the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources described the initiative as a viable pathway to self-employment and economic independence.
The committee, led by its Chairman, Hon. Fatai Atere, praised Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for the initiative, noting that it reflects his administration’s commitment to tackling unemployment and repositioning agriculture as a tool for sustainable growth.
The lawmakers expressed confidence that the project would boost broiler and egg production in the state, reducing overdependence on supplies from other states in the near future.
They also urged youths to visit the centre to acquire livestock farming skills and embrace agriculture as a viable and profitable career option.
The committee assured the agency of budgetary support for ongoing programmes aimed at strengthening agricultural activities across the state.
The Administrative Secretary of OSAEC, Mr. Oluwafemi Iwajomo, described the initiative as the first of its kind in Ondo State and appreciated Governor Aiyedatiwa for creating such opportunities for young people.
The Director of Livestock Production at OSAEC, Mr. James Akinbuwa, explained that broiler production is a profitable venture capable of transforming lives within six weeks if properly managed. He encouraged more youths to take advantage of the programme.
He added that the project, a strategic intervention designed to promote food security and reduce unemployment, will be implemented across the three senatorial districts, with each training session lasting a few weeks.
The lawmakers were later conducted round the facilities at the centre.
