Ondo Assembly receives four new commissioner nominees, screening scheduled for tomorrow The Ondo State House of Assembly has received the names of four additional commissioner nominees forwarded by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for confirmation. The nominees are:Pastor Ademuwagun, Engr. Leye Akinola,Dr. Banji Awolowo Ajaka,Hon.Adesoji Afolabi The announcement was made during a plenary session held today, presided over by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Olamide Oladiji, at the Assembly Complex in Akure. Earlier, the Clerk of the House, Barrister Benjamin Jaiyeola, read the Governor’s letter on the floor of the House. According to the letter, the request is in line with Section 192 (1 & 2) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). The House Majority Leader, Hon. (Chief) Olatunji Oshati, moved a motion for the nominees’ list to be referred to the Committee of the Whole for scrutiny. The motion was seconded by the member representing Odigbo Constituency 1, Hon. Olatunji Ifabiyi. The House has directed the four commissioner nominees to appear before it for screening on Friday, 27th June 2025, with valid credentials and at least 40 copies of their updated curriculum vitae for vetting and documentation. Commending his colleagues for their dedication and cooperation, the Speaker appreciated the maturity and transparency displayed during the recent screening of 12 commissioner nominees. In a matter of urgent public importance, the House also deliberated on the need to intensify public sensitization through advocacy and radio jingles on preventing the spread of Lassa Fever in the state. During the discussion, the lawmaker representing Akoko South West Constituency 1, Hon. Raymond Daudu, urged the Ministry of Health to take proactive measures to keep the disease at bay. Hon. (Dr.) Chris Ogunlana of Irele Constituency and Hon. (Barr.) Steven Abitogun of Akure South Constituency 2 also advised residents to avoid contact with rodents and maintain good hygiene at all times. Additionally, a bill for a law to establish the Ondo State Coastal Management Agency and for other related matters, 2024, passed its first reading. The private member's bill was sponsored by Hon. (Primate) Oluwatoyin Allen, representing Ese-Odo Constituency. The Speaker concluded the session by announcing the reconstitution of the House’s standing committees, urging members to uphold democratic values, commitment, and integrity in all their duties. The House adjourned sitting to Tuesday, 1st July 2025.

 The Minister of Women Affairs,H.E Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has called on Commissioners of Women Affairs across the country to reposition their ministries as proactive, problem-solving, and unified institutions central to social development and national progress. The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt.Hon.Chief Olamide Oladiji, has commended the commissioner-nominees for demonstrating exceptional maturity during their screening. Speaking with journalists shortly after the screening exercise of the last batch of the twelve Commissioner-nomminees, Oladiji said the nominees conducted themselves admirably despite the rigorous nature of the process. “I must appreciate the nominees for conducting themselves in a manner that displayed the required maturity.
