Ondo Govt reaffirms commitment to women empowerment.

The Governor of Ondo State, Dr Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has reaffirmed his commitment to providing an enabling environment for women to explore and fulfil their potential. The Governor was represented by the Special Adviser on Women Affairs, Dr Seun Osamaye, at the Women and Youth Empowerment programme organised by Friendsociates in collaboration with the National Council for Women Societies (NCWS) at The Dome in Akure. Dr Aiyedatiwa announced that a week-long empowerment programme for women would take place in the state as part of his administration’s efforts to boost the economic viability of women across Ondo State. OSOPADEC Defends 2025 Budget, Promises Deeper Impact in Oil-Producing Areas

The Ondo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (OSOPADEC) on Monday defended its proposed N33 billion budget for the 2025 fiscal year. It will be recalled that a few days ago, the Ondo State House of Assembly at a plenary referred the N33 billion budget to the Ad-hoc Committee on OSOPADEC for thorough scrutiny. In his address, the Chairman of the Ad-hoc Committee on OSOPADEC,  Allen Oluwatoyin, stated that the committee would painstakingly review the budget to ensure no detail is overlooked, thereby guaranteeing the effective performance of the Commission. He further advised that, following the budget's passage, there should be continuous monitoring and evaluation. He added that the ministry of economic planning and budget should ensure quarterly visits to OSOPADEC to assess the level of implementation. The development has plunged the people of Ose LGA into mourning. The lawmaker representing the local government in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Honourable Olatunji Oshati (popularly known as Maxima), decried the tragic incident. Adepoyigi was abducted last Monday while parking his vehicle at his residence in Ifon. Following his kidnap, the abductors initially demanded a ransom of N100 million. After several rounds of negotiations and pleas, the amount was reduced to N5 million. However, after two persons from Ifon volunteered to deliver the N5 million ransom, they were also captured by the kidnappers. The Ondo State Ministry of Justice has announced the commencement of a fresh appointment process for the conferment of the JP title on qualified individuals of the State, marking the first of  such exercise in nearly 20 years. As schools across Ondo State resume for the third term of the 2024/2025 academic session, the State Agency for Transport has assured residents that school shuttle buses will function optimally across all parts of the state, including riverine communities, to ensure a hitch-free resumption for students. The Permanent Secretary of the Ondo State Agency for Transport, Mr Oluwafemi Ayodele, gave the assurance during a monitoring tour on the first day of resumption.
